No Gift Policy
Updated: 7 September 2026
This policy protects editorial and business decisions made for Cecilia Prize from personal gifts, favours and other benefits. It applies to anyone acting for the website in selecting content, assessing a service or making a commercial decision.
Benefits that must not influence decisions
Cash, gift cards, personal travel, valuable presents or special treatment must not be accepted in exchange for coverage, a favourable opinion, a referral or the removal of justified criticism. A benefit offered through a friend or another intermediary is still relevant if its purpose is to influence the decision.
People acting for Cecilia Prize must not request a personal reward for publishing, correcting or considering information. Paid commercial arrangements must be transparent and governed by the Advertiser Disclosure and Affiliate Disclosure, not disguised as gifts.
Handling offers and review material
A material gift should be declined or returned where practicable. If return is not possible, the situation should be recorded and handled so that the recipient does not gain a personal advantage or conceal the conflict.
A temporary evaluation loan or access needed to assess a service is different from a personal present. Its purpose, duration and relevant conditions must be understood, and the connection disclosed where it affects how readers assess the review. Access cannot be exchanged for a promise of positive coverage.
Independent editorial work
The Editorial Guidelines require evidence for claims and honest attribution. An offer of hospitality or payment does not establish that a service is safe, that an author has tested it or that a recommendation is independent.
This business policy does not turn personal dating into a gift transaction. Our Anti-Scam information addresses requests for money and gifts in romantic conversations.
Raising a concern
Consult the Contact page for published contact information if someone claims a gift is required to obtain attention or favourable treatment from Cecilia Prize. Identify the relevant request without sharing unnecessary personal or financial information.
