Interim pre-launch notice

Cookie Policy

This policy explains the rules Cecilia Prize will follow for cookies and similar browser technologies on the current informational website. It does not describe a future member application.

The basics

What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are

They can store information on a device or read information already stored there.

Cookie

Browser Cookies

Small text records that may support security, sessions, preferences, measurement, or advertising.

Store

Local Storage

Browser storage that can remember settings or identifiers without using a traditional cookie.

Tag

Pixels and Tags

Code that can record page activity or connect a visit with an analytics, advertising, or email provider.

How choices should work

Necessary First, Optional Only by Choice

1
Need

Strictly Necessary

Used only where required to deliver or secure a function the visitor requested, as permitted by applicable law.

2
Ask

Optional Technologies

Analytics, personalisation, affiliate, and advertising technologies should remain blocked until valid consent where required.

3
Equal

Accept or Reject

Rejecting optional technologies should be as easy as accepting them, without blocking core informational pages.

4
Change

Withdraw Later

If optional technologies are introduced, a persistent Cookie settings control should allow choices to be changed.

Current pre-launch position

No Optional Technology Is Announced Here

Cecilia Prize does not currently announce an approved analytics, advertising, affiliate, or personalisation technology. This is not a substitute for a browser audit: any unapproved technology discovered during testing should be disabled until it is assessed, disclosed, and lawfully configured.

Verified inventory

What Must Be Listed Before Use

Every technology must be documented from observed production behaviour, not inferred from a product or plugin name.

Name

Exact Name and Provider

The cookie, key, pixel, or tag name and the legal provider responsible for it.

Why

Specific Purpose

A plain-language explanation of what it does and why the website needs it.

Time

Lifetime and Trigger

How long it remains and whether it loads immediately or only after a particular choice.

Managing browser data

Your Controls

Can I block or delete cookies in my browser?

Yes. Most browsers let you view, delete, block, or restrict cookies and clear local site data. Blocking necessary storage may affect a requested function.

Is continuing to browse treated as consent?

No. Where consent is required, it should result from a clear and informed choice, not silence or continued browsing.

Is a Cookie settings control available today?

No such control is claimed on this page. It must be added before any optional technology requiring consent is introduced.

Where can I ask a privacy question?

A verified route will appear on the Contact page before active data collection begins.

Policy updates

The Inventory Must Change When Technology Changes

This page must be rescanned and updated whenever hosting, consent tools, forms, analytics, embedded media, advertising, affiliate links, or member features change.
