E-Consent

Updated: 7 September 2026

This policy explains the standards for electronic choices, records and communications connected with Cecilia Prize. Reading a page is not an electronic signature, agreement to a purchase or permission to receive marketing. Consent must relate to the specific action described when it is requested.

A clear choice with a defined purpose

Where an electronic action requires agreement, the request must identify what is being accepted, the relevant terms and any important consequences. An unticked checkbox or another deliberate control should distinguish agreement from ordinary navigation. Silence, an unrelated click or a preselected option does not express a specific choice under this policy.

Agreement to receive a particular electronic record is separate from consent to promotional messages, optional cookies or disclosure to a third party. One choice must not be used to conceal another.

Accessing and keeping records

You can save or print public policy pages using your browser. Before any electronic process depends on a particular document format or technical requirement, that requirement must be explained. A person should be able to review the relevant information before deciding.

This page does not establish a universal electronic signature service or assert that every click has the same legal effect as a handwritten signature. The effect of a particular record depends on the transaction, the action actually taken and applicable law.

Changing a choice

Where processing relies on consent, withdrawal must be available through the route explained with that choice. Withdrawing consent does not by itself invalidate an earlier action taken on valid consent, but it must stop the consent-based activity concerned from continuing without another lawful justification.

Any practical consequence of choosing another communication method should be explained fairly. Withdrawal must not be portrayed as impossible merely because information has already been submitted.
