Peace Out Wrinkles Anti-Wrinkle Dissolving Microneedling Patches with Retinol & Peptides: Do They Really Work?

Have you heard of microneedling? Microneedling is a skincare treatment that uses tiny needles to improve product penetration and jump-start collagen production in the skin. I’m reluctant to trying anything at home that involves needles, so when I heard about Peace Out Wrinkles Anti-Wrinkle Microneedling Retinol Patches, an at-home anti-aging treatment that doesn’t use real needles but mimics their effect, I was curious to see how they perform.

Some of the active ingredients in Peace Out Wrinkles include retinol, peptides, and vitamin C, some of the most effective ingredients to improve wrinkles, fine lines, dullness, and uneven texture. These are some of my favorite anti-aging skincare ingredients, so I purchased a box and put the “microneedles” to the test. Before we get into the product performance, let’s first discuss why we would want to try a product that mimics microneedling. What exactly is microneedling and how does it work?

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a skincare treatment performed by dermatologists that involves the insertion of tiny short sterile needles into the skin that create microscopic punctures or wounds in the skin. This leads the way for better penetration of products applied to the skin or lasers used on the skin after the procedure.

You may be wondering why in the world you would want to puncture your skin. Wounding the skin causes the skin to repair itself and stimulates collagen production. But that’s not all. Microneedling offers even more benefits to the skin…

What are the Benefits of Microneedling?

You may be surprised at this long list, but there are many benefits to microneedling, as it can treat many different skin conditions such as the following:

• Wrinkles and fine lines
• Crepey skin and cellulite
• Hair loss
• Acne scars and stretch marks
• Loss of firmness and elasticity
• Dullness
• Uneven texture
• Hyperpigmentation and dark spots

When repeated over time (spaced apart), this 2008 study in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, found that microneedling not only temporarily plumps the skin, but also increases collagen and elastin production and after one year, provides a 40% thickening of the stratum spinosum layer of the epidermis.

Microneedling at Home

With the popularity of professional microneedling treatments has come the release of many products to the retail market for home use. These tools called derma rollers, typically have smaller needles than the devices used by a dermatologist. This minimizes the chances of injury at home.

Yet derma rollers come with their share of precautions. In this 2018 news release, the American Academy of Dermatology Association warns about the use of at-home microneedling devices. If at-home devices aren’t cleaned and maintained properly, it can lead to injury or infection.

I’ve been wanting to trying microneedling, either at a dermatologist or at home for years, but was reluctant due to the idea of causing trauma to my skin and it sounded painful. Also, the more I read about at-home devices, I decided that if I was going to try it at all it should be with a professional. Enter Peace Out Wrinkles Anti-Wrinkle Dissolving Microneedling Patches.

Peace Out Wrinkles Anti-Wrinkle Dissolving Microneedling Patches contain 450 self-dissolving hyaluronic acid microneedles that penetrate the skin to create tiny pathways for delivering anti-aging ingredients to the skin. The patches are formulated with retinol, vitamin C, and a 7-peptide blend. These potent anti-aging ingredients have a slew of benefits for the skin:

• Retinol stimulates collagen production and helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and uneven texture.
• Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps to brighten the skin and protect from and repair environmental damage that leads to the signs of aging.
• Peptides are amino acids that support collagen and elastin formation, which help to soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improve firmness.

How to Use Peace Out Wrinkles Anti-Wrinkle Dissolving Microneedling Patches

Each patch is about two inches long, so these patches are ideal as a spot treatment. If you have a specific concern, such as crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles (that would be me), smile lines, or 11’s between your eyes, these patches are ideal.

Apply to clean dry skin and gently press for 5-10 seconds. You should wear the patch for at least six hours, so nighttime application is ideal. Use the patches twice weekly for at least two weeks in a row for the best results. Since the box comes with six patches, that would mean that you should use at least 4 of the 6 patches to start to see results.

Your best bet would be to use these patches on one specific area of your face otherwise you would need multiple boxes to see results. The patches are good for normal, oily, combination, dry, and even sensitive skin types.

My Experience with Peace Out Wrinkles Anti-Wrinkle Dissolving Microneedling Patches

When I saw these micro-needling patches, I figured this may be a nice introduction to microneedling. The patches only cover a very small portion of your face, and once used they are discarded. I’ve noticed some horizontal lines on my forehead above my eyebrows, so I decided to give these a try. I decided to focus all the patches (there are 6 in a box) on one small area of my forehead.

I was wondering if they would pick your skin at all. After I applied the first patch, I was surprised because I didn’t feel anything at all. I wore it overnight and after removing it in the morning, I didn’t notice any difference in the wrinkle or skin texture on my forehead. It was comfortable to wear and the adhesive stuck to my skin without shifting.

There are a total of six patches in a box. The box contains two packages, and three patches comes in each package. The hyaluronic acid “microneedles” in the first 3 patches were not sharp at all and somewhat dull. I didn’t see any results after 3 applications. The second three patches were sharper and I definitely felt the hyaluronic acid needles upon application. No pain, but I did feel them.

The second group of three provided the results that I was looking for. My forehead wrinkle softened after each of the last three applications. I can’t say if it will be a long-lasting change, but for short-term improvement in fine lines and wrinkles, this may be worth considering.

These before and after pictures aren’t the best quality, but this will give you an idea of how they’ve softened my wrinkle.

I wish the entire box of Peace Out Wrinkles Anti-Wrinkle Dissolving Microneedling Patches was more consistent and that all of the patches were all as sharp as the last three patches that I tried. The treatment is $28 for 6 patches, so it is not inexpensive. Since I have forehead wrinkles on both sides of my face, it could get expensive treating them.

Will I repurchase? Perhaps for a special occasion. Keep in mind, that everyone has their own individual results and what works or doesn’t work for me may work or not work for you.
